Goldstar Software has created numerous utilites and tools over the years which have helped us in our projects. We are happy to be able to offer some of these general-purpose (and some special-purpose) tools to you in the following packages:


KeyCheck: Database File Key Checker & Reporting Tool
The KeyCheck utility provides a fast and easy way to analyze database files and find any corruption that may be contained therein. KeyCheck provides a simple way to check files on any Pervasive database, either locally or via a web page, and report any corruption found back to the user. It is available as shareware (DOS), or as a paid product (Win32) that is faster and more flexible. It can also be purchased with a Btrieve or Pervasive.SQL license for off-line database scanning.

LogSplitter: Pervasive DataExchange Log File Analysis Tool
The LogSplitter tool was born from the frustration of analyzing DataExchange log files and interpretting the results when multiple concurrent replication sessions are reported therein. It provides a simple way of splitting the log files into separate pieces for easy analysis. No DataExchange install should be without it!

PSConfig: Powerful Command-Line Setup & Monitor Tool
PSConfig is a great tool with a lousy name! This tool gives you command-line access to the configuration data of the server, allowing you to save and later restore the configuration data -- but that is just scratching the surface! It also provides the functionality of a super-powerful monitoring and user management utility at your fingertips!

SQLExec: Command-Line SQL Command Executor & Exporting Tool
SQLExec provides access to the SQL/ODBC environment from the command line, providing for clean and simple database exporting, as well as command-line driven SQL statements. It can be used to schedule stored procedures, to automate database creation, or for importing data as well!

Toolkit BART: Btrieve Administrator's Recovery ToolKit
The ULTIMATE toolkit for Btrieve and Pervasive.SQL data file recovery! Includes the time-tested favorites of PATFIX (including the new Win32 version) and KeyCheck, but it also includes some tools never before available to the public, including PATCheck, LPLookup, and more! Some applications already in this package support V8 files, and more are coming in the near future!

WARNING: You really should take our Advanced Data File Recovery for Pervasive.SQL course to understand how these tools really work. However, you can also get a lot from Jim Kyle's Btrieve Complete book (also available) if you mostly care about Btrieve 5.x and 6.x file formats.

Toolkit BURT: Btrieve Utilities, Resources & Tools
This BURT collection of general-purpose Btrieve utilities provides for advanced command-line scripting capability and data-level repair functionality for Btrieve data files. This toolkit includes both KeyCheck and ListStat, as well as several data repair utilities like FixDates and AlterNum.

Toolkit DUMP: DDF Utility & Maintenance Package
Currently, the DUMP package contains several utilities specifically targeting Pervasive.SQL 7 data dictionaries, and this is the only way to get these tools. However, DUMP also contains DDF maintenance utilties like ChkIndex, BldIndex, and UpdtTabl. One utility, MoveDDF, is currently available nowhere else but this package!

Toolkit GUMP: Goldstar Utility & Management Package
The GUMP collection simply packages up many of our commonly used tools and provides a complete site license for them. Some of the items here are general purpose scripting or script creation tools. (it's really powerful when you start to chain programs like GREP32, MAKEBAT, and REMFILE.) Others are more to speed up laborious tasks, such as search for specific files with CountExt.

ViewUNF: Unformatted (UNF) File Viewer
This Win32 GUI tool allows you to quickly review the ASCII contents of UNF files by displaying the file contents with control characters filtered out. It is vastly superior to a text editor for this purpose, since it specifically recognizes the UNF file format. Click the name above for more details!
