Digital Voice Inc. has completed its initial testing on the Pervasive.SQL V8 database engine. Please contact DVI directly (see link above) for the official documentation covering their testing and supported platforms.
In short, the DVI testing has shown that the Pervasive.SQL V8.5 and V8.6 Workgroup Engine WILL work for running the VoicePower Remote User Interface software. However, this is ONLY supported when the VoicePower Server is running Pervasive.SQL 2000i Service Pack 3. (We are not clear if there are any expected problems with the subsequent releases, namely Service Pack 4 or the SP4 HotFixes.) Their testing has also shown that the Pervasive.SQL V8 database engine is NOT supported (and produces incorrect results) with this software.
This means that the DVI server software MUST continue to run on Pervasive.SQL 2000i. If you have a site which is upgrading to Pervasive.SQL V8.6 on other applications, including 3M, NDCHealth, MediScribe, etc., then some conflicts may occur. You can eliminate these conflicts by upgrading the Pervasive.SQL 2000i workstation engine (currently installed on the DVI Remote User Interface computers) with the Pervasive.SQL V8.6 Workgroup Engine. (Contact Goldstar Software for quantity pricing.) Since the Pervasive.SQL v8.6 Workgroup Engine ALSO includes the Pervasive.SQL v8.6 client (that ships with the client/server engine), this configuration will function correctly for both applications.
Based on these issues, each site will need to make their
own decision and perform their own testing of the application.
